What we recommend, in what order, and why
When your exam finds work worth doing, Dr. Patel writes it down as a sequenced plan — not a list of procedures, but an order of operations. Gum health usually comes first, because everything else is built on it. A tooth at risk of breaking may come before one that is stable. Each step is there for a stated reason, and you can see how the steps depend on each other.
You also see the why. Dr. Patel uses an intraoral camera — a small camera that puts a clear photograph of your own tooth on the screen in front of you. A crack, a failing filling, a worn edge: you look at the same image she does. Trust is easier when you can see what she sees.
Sequencing matters most when a plan has several parts — gum treatment such as scaling and root planing, a dental crown, or an implant restoration coordinated with the surgeon who places the post. The written plan shows how those pieces fit together, which one leads, and which can wait. It's yours to take with you.
Monitor or treat
Not everything needs treatment today
An honest plan includes the things we are choosing not to treat yet. Some findings call for care now; others are early, small, or stable enough to watch. Those go in the plan too, marked as monitor: we photograph them, re-check them at your regular visits, and talk honestly about how things are trending.
This is what protecting natural teeth first looks like in practice. We recommend the most conservative option that truly solves the problem — a filling where a filling is enough, a crown when the tooth needs full protection, and watchful waiting when treating today would remove healthy tooth structure for no clear gain. If watching stops being enough, the plan changes, and we tell you why. Gum health works the same way: after gum treatment, periodontal maintenance visits are how we watch and protect the result.

Recommendations, not a pitch
Sound treatment shouldn't require a sales pitch. You'll hear what we recommend in plain language, what the reasonable alternatives are, and what waiting would likely mean. Then the decision is yours, made on your timeline.
Second opinions are genuinely welcome. If you'd like another dentist's read on your plan, the written plan and your photographs make that easy. And if you've been handed a large plan elsewhere and something about it sits wrong, we're glad to take an honest look.

When a case needs a specialist
Dr. Patel is a general dentist with a dedicated periodontal program, and part of an honest plan is being clear about what belongs here and what doesn't. If your case needs more than we provide, we say so and coordinate your care with trusted local specialists — sending records and photographs ahead, sequencing the specialist's work within your overall plan, and completing the parts that belong back at our office. Dental implants are the familiar example: trusted local surgeons place the implant post, and we plan the final tooth and restore the crown that completes it.

Do you offer second opinions?
Yes — second opinions are genuinely welcome here, in both directions. If you've been given a substantial plan elsewhere, Dr. Patel will examine your teeth herself and give you her honest read in plain language. And if you'd like another dentist's opinion on a plan from our office, your written plan and photographs make that simple.
Will you pressure me into treatment?
No — you'll get a clear recommendation, the reasons behind it, and time to decide — treatment decisions at our office are made by you, on your timeline. Sound dentistry doesn't need a sales pitch.
What if a tooth doesn't need treatment yet?
Then we watch it instead of treating it. Findings that are early, small, or stable go into your plan marked for monitoring: we photograph them, re-check them at your regular visits, and talk honestly about how things are trending. If a watched tooth changes, the plan changes with it — and you'll know why.
What if my case needs a specialist?
We tell you plainly and coordinate the referral. Dr. Patel is a general dentist with a dedicated periodontal program; care that belongs with a specialist goes to trusted local specialists, with your records and photographs sent ahead. The specialist's work is sequenced into your overall plan, and the parts that belong in general dentistry are completed here.
