What does a comprehensive dental exam include?
Your first visit includes a complete examination of your teeth, gums, bite, and jaw; digital X-rays as needed; gum health measurements; an oral cancer screening; and time to talk through what we find. You leave with a clear picture of your oral health and a plan you understand.
How is a new patient exam different from a regular checkup?
A new patient exam is more thorough. Because we're meeting you for the first time, we build a complete baseline: full records, X-rays, gum measurements, and a conversation about your history and goals. Later checkups build on that foundation.
How often are dental X-rays needed, and are they safe?
We take X-rays only when they help us care for you — typically a full set as a new patient, then periodic bitewings based on your individual risk. Our office uses digital X-rays, which use a very low radiation dose, and we always weigh the benefit before taking any image.
How long does the first visit take?
Plan on about 60 to 90 minutes. We deliberately schedule enough time so nothing feels rushed and all your questions get answered.
What should I bring to my first visit?
A photo ID, your dental insurance card if you have one, and a list of any medications you take. If a previous office has recent X-rays, we can help you request them. Arriving a few minutes early leaves comfortable time for paperwork.
